How our program works

Lights On ABA Services, LLC provides applied behavior analysis services in its office location and to the community at broad. We currently have offices located in Sulphur, Louisiana and Beaumont, Texas.

We provide services related to improving language, social, play, self-help, and reducing behaviors that interfere with learning, or put the learner or others at risk. We work with learners that have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder as well as related disorders and difficulties.

Play

At our offices, we provide an engaging environment for play to help enrich and improve social skills when interacting with others. These skills are the building blocks for your learner's future adulthood.

Language

Our licensed professionals work with your learner to develop the language and verbal skills needed to maneuver a school environment and into adulthood. These skills, along with play and behavior modification, will help your learner succeed.

School Readiness

School settings can be a challenge for learners that have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder as well as related disorders and difficulties. Our licensed professionals can help curb behavior that might put your learner or others at risk.

Applied Behavior Analysis:

ABA is an evidence-based framework from which basic principles of behavior change and learning are applied to socially significant behaviors, specifically to increase desired behaviors and decreased undesired behaviors (Baer, Wolf, & Risley, 1968; Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2007).  The National Autism Center’s National Standard Report (2009) found that ABA had an established level of evidence to support its use.  The Center for Disease Control has stated that ABA is a “…notable treatment approach for people with ASD”.

The Surgeon General of the United States has stated that, “thirty years of research demonstrated the efficacy of applied behavioral methods in reducing inappropriate behavior and in increasing communication, learning, and appropriate social behavior” (1999).  In providing ABA services, our primary goal is to increase the quality of life of the individual we are serving – through intervening on unsafe, excessive behaviors, or supporting the learning of new language, play, social or other skills.

Insurance Coverage

We accept major private insurances as well as Medicaid at our Sulphur location.

No diagnosis necessary

A diagnosis is not required for services but may be required in order for insurance to cover services.

Our Process:

The behavior analyst assigned to an individual’s case will organize and implement the assessment, treatment planning, and parent support. Additionally, the behavior analyst will monitor the implementation of applied behavior analysis services and provide ongoing training and support for our registered line technicians and registered behavior technicians.

1. Assessment

Using industry-leading competency-based skill assessments, functional assessments, interview with parents & loved ones, and direct observation, our team will work to identify an individual’s strengths and weaknesses across a variety of skill areas. The information gained in the assessment will be reviewed with the parent as part of the treatment planning process.

2. Treatment Planning

Upon conducting skill assessments, the team will create a comprehensive or focused treatment plan. The treatment plan is a ‘living, breathing’ plan that updates as the individual grows with respect to the goals and objectives targeted. Parents and loved ones will have the opportunity to learn about each of the targeted objectives contained in the treatment plan and will work with the team to guide future directions.

3. Parent Support

Parent training and support is an essential component of successful ABA treatment. Research has demonstrated that parent involvement results in improved outcomes across a wide variety of skill areas and social behaviors (Dalun, Hsien-Yuan, Oi-man, Benz, & Bowman-Perrott, 2011; Nikoli, Bachman, & Votruba-Drzal, 2010). Our team works to involve parents into daily appointments with the individuals we serve. Through progress meetings, direct observations, parent education, and parent training, we create a team-based approach with each family to allow for the skills we target to follow the individual into the natural environment.

4. One on One and Small Group Instruction

One on One services and small group instruction is provided to support the development of critical skills across a wide variety of skill areas. All services are rendered by a registered line technician or registered behavior technician and are supervised by a board-certified, licensed behavior analyst. The technician and analyst work as a team with the individual and his or her loved ones to reach new cusps and challenge existing barriers to progress.
